Held in Jesus College, Oxford and hosted by the London School of Hygiene and Economics (LSHTM), the consortium's annual gathering drew participants from Uganda, Tanzania, India, Kenya, South Africa, the UK and the US.
After plenary presentations and discussions, the group of approximately forty divided into working groups, taking advantage of the opportunity to develop thinking, plans and syntheses. The working group on alcohol and HIV built capacity for their three-country study in a three-day workshop on Photovoice as a research methodology. STRIVE's Knowledge into Action team held meetings on 11 April and 17 April, sharing lessons and approaches from KiA activities over the past year and preparing for the year ahead. Other groups also took advantage of Friday 17 April to meet in smaller groups. As well as hard, intellectual work, the group enjoyed punting, a walking tour or an open-top bus tour of Oxford.
