Young women aged 18–24 spoke publically for the first time at the launch of Parivartan for Girls on 14 November 2014. Speaking in Shivaji Nagar, a slum area of Mumbai, the newly trained mentors demonstrated the kind of confidence that the programme is designed to build.
Parivartan for Girls is a collaboration between STRIVE research partner ICRW-ARO and community organising group Apnalaya. It combines sport, discussion sessions and group education activities to address violence against women and creates opportunities for girls to talk about life skills, health, gender, violence and sexual harassment.
