Almost two thirds of female sex workers (FSWs) in Karnataka State have a non-paying lover (husband, boyfriend) in addition to paying clients. These relationships are often characterized by high levels of violence and low condom use.
Samvedana Plus is an intervention that aimed to reduce intimate partner violence and increase condom use through outreach, counselling, reflection and support sessions for FSW, as well as sessions for their intimate partners.
This poster presents the results of the trial and lessons learned.
