The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is a global policy making body and functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. Every year, representatives from Member States, UN entities, and NGOs come from around the world to meet at the UN Headquarters in New York. STRIVE research director Charlotte Watts was at the 57th session of CSW in 2013, representing a range of research undertaken with STRIVE affiliates and the Gender, Violence and Health Centre at LSHTM.
In particular, Charlotte joined Lori Michau, Co-Director of Raising Voices and Tina Musuya, Executive Director of CEDOVIP for two sessions on preventing intimate partner violence. The events were designed to share preliminary findings from SASA!, a community-focused violence and HIV prevention programme in Kampala, Uganda.
