HIV and violence constitute twin and often interconnected epidemics. Growing evidence shows that many forms of intimate partner violence – physical, sexual and psychological – increase susceptibility to HIV and disease progression in women and girls.
This STRIVE technical brief synthesises the existing evidence on the links between violence against women and girls (VAWG) and HIV, and highlights STRIVE's contribution to the field, including a tool for measuring intimate partner violence and the results of several research trials and projects in Uganda, South Africa, India and Tanzania.
