The World Bank today launched a new report that explores findings from an evaluation of community responses to HIV/AIDS.

Investing in communities achieves results was launched at an event in Washington DC, which brought together the authors and other representatives from the World Bank to discuss a range of case studies from Burkina Faso, India, Kenya, Lesotho, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The report seeks to address the fact that community level programme results have not always been the focus of systematic and rigorous evaluations. It brings together evaluation studies from a range of different countries, including a HIV prevention study among sex workers in Kanataka, India by STRIVE partner KHPT.

The evaluation findings suggest that communities have produced significant results, improved knowledge, change behaviors and increased use of services at varying levels.
