A major new study is being launched at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine today. The study is the first of its kind to estimate the global prevalence of violence against women. It found that a third of women across the world experience violence, most often from their intimate partners.

You can download and read more about the study here, or read about the findings in The Guardian, BBC News, CNN and NPR.

The study was conducted by the Gender, Violence and Health Centre (LSHTM) with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the South African Medical Research Council.
