AIDS 2012: Stigma Workshop with ICRW

18 July 2012
Alexandra Hyde

A major workshop will share tools and best practices for measuring stigma and discrimination among PLHIV, the general population and in health care settings.

The workshop, organised by the Stigma Action Network with colleagues from from STRIVE partner ICRW, will focus on:

  • Key domains of stigma and discrimination that should be measured
  • Specific measures available to assess each key domain
  • Triangulating measures across populations
  • Tools and resources for stigma measurement

Stigma Action Network and ICRW argue that measuring stigma and discrimination in a standardized way enables national governments, programme managers and researchers to 'know their context', develop appropriate stigma-reduction interventions and advocate for more attention and funding globally.

The workshop will be fully participatory and runs from 14:30 – 18:00 on Thursday 26 July in Mini Room 8.
